Do you often find yourself playing host to guests who drop by frequently? If yes, then it is important to make your guest room comfortable and inviting. After all, you don’t want your guests to leave with a grumpy face. Creating a comfortable space for your guests is easy. Just ensure that you avoid the following mistakes while decorating the guest room:
1. Make the space Cluttered
Leave some space for the guests. If you occasionally use your guest room, ensure that you clear it once the work is over. Minimize decorative pieces. Just a couple of artwork is fine but loading the shelves, tabletops with knick knacks will leave no space for the guests to put their things.
2. Never Putting Enough toiletries
Put a set of towel, a toothbrush, soap and shampoo in the guest room because not all guests carry their toiletries.
3. Not updating the Decor
Update the decor of your guest room. Retouch the paint, get good furniture, check the electricity lines and repair any damage, install a new door. This will brighten up the room. If you are looking for good quality doors, check out our door designs at http://greenplyplywood.com/18-doors
4. Not having Enough Storage Space
You do not want the guests to use the floor to stack their luggage bags. Like your other rooms, install wooden cabinets, shelves and built-in cabinets in the guest room. The guests can use these spaces to put their luggage. Go for a simple wooden rack for the room. The guests can use it to store their accessories.
5. Not Changing the Bed Sheets Often
Change the bed sheets of the guest room once in a while. Do not use old and worn sheets for the guest room. You do not want it to appear like a store room for old sheets. Changing the sheets and pillowcases will make the room appear clean and less dingy.
6. Never Using the Guest Room
Use your guest room once in a while. You might end up discovering that the bathroom faucet doesn’t work or the mattress needs to be changed.
7. Not Providing a Wastebin
You do not want your guests to get up from their work and walk to your kitchen or living room to throw a crumpled paper into the wastebasket.
8. Not Providing Technical Amenities
Your guests might want to catch up the late night chat show or they might simply need to charge their cell phones. Ensure that the guest room has a Television set, a remote control and visible electric plug-ins.
